    This an excellent introduction to quantum field theory covering in less than 300 pages most of the essentials needed for advanced texts in QFT, particle physics and applications of QFT to the AdS CFT correspondence After an introductory chapter the book begins with chp2 on Lorentz and Poincare symmetries in QFT, the earlier parts of chp2 I found a little terse and difficult to follow, but on progressing with the chapter the concepts and ideas became clearer and better explained Chapters 3 6 explains the mechanics of QFT in a clear systematic and concise manner Throughout the concepts are well presented and the derivations are not difficult to follow, with some effort Having said this, the topics in the book are limited and to go further one needs to follow up this book with the likes of Peskin and Schroeder or Schwartz, for which this book will be a very good preparation Overall I am very happy with this book and learnt some important fundamental topics in QFT in preparation for advanced texts.

    This book, unlike Peskin and Schroeder for instance, really starts at the start Before going into classical field theory, let alone quantum field theory, the author presents a rigorous treatment of the Lorentz and Poincare group These early chapters really meant I understood what was going on later in the book, as we begin to build field theories containing all sorts of invariances and symmetries This is in no way an elementary book though and I, as an MSc student in theoretical physics, learned perturbation theory in QED solely through the use of this resource It went into sufficient technical depth so that my transition to an advanced QFT course went smoothly.

    This is by far the very best book I have gone through on the subject.If you are about to have one book to really master the subject, this is it.Said that Take it as a stripped version of Peskin Schr eder the one we were taught the subject for those of us who were graduating in the late 90s This is much better to learn the subject Add David Tong s notes and Peskin Schr der and Robert Wald s QFT in Curved Spacetime awfull typesetting but powerfull treatment.

    Una materia difficile spiegata in maniera chiara come Maggiore sa fare Consigliato a tutti anche perch ha un punto di vista che spesso in moto altri libri di teoria dei campi non viene usato Ancora meglio se usato in parallelo con il Peskin Schroeder, riesce a colmare alcune mancanze del secondo in user friendliness

    Dal mio punto di vista, questo testo soddisfa i requisiti di chiarezza che ogni buon testo introduttivo dovrebbe avere Si parte da un inquadramento teorico sperimentale delle problematiche e delle scale di energia nel campo della fisica delle alte energie Si fa vedere in maniera eccellente quanto la materia del testo generalizzi quanto gi noto nell ambito dell Elettrodinamica classica.Inizia poi un affascinante tour alla scoperta degli strumenti matematici algebre di Lie necessari per la piena comprensione della formulazione quantistica della teoria dei campi L autore appassiona il lettore con simpatiche note di colore durante tutta la trattazione Nel complesso tale libro, nella sua natura di Introduzione, eccellente.

    Bien que ce livre se pr sente comme une introduction, ce n est pas tout fait le cas il pr suppose certaines notions pourtant avanc es spineurs en physique quantique , et de nombreux passages sont exp di s rapidement, avec moins d explications qu il n en faudrait pour un d butant Le probl me est que l auteur a voulu rassembler trop de choses en un nombre restreint de pages.Le bon point de ce livre est de contenir un chapitre d di s aux groupes de Lie et aux sym tries, ce qui permet de bien fixer ces notions math matiques pour le physicien qui n a jamais utilis ces concepts De plus, il pr sente les divers types de champs avec des d tails et en explicitant la plupart des calculs Les probl mes r solus permettent de s entrainer avec les concepts et permettent aussi d tudier certaines points avanc s graviton, champs temp rature finie.En bref, je recommande ce livre, mais peut tre en se limitant aux quatre premiers chapitres dans un premier temps, puis en lisant un autre livre type Ryder avant de revenir dessus D autant plus que ce livre fait une excellente r f rence car les concepts les plus importants sont pr sents et il est ainsi tr s rapide de retrouver une notion.

    Complimenti a Michele Maggiore la giusta dose di formalismo matematico quanto basta per la fisica senza appesantire troppo le argomentazioni Per alcune parti necessita del Peschin e Schroeder An introduction of Q.F.T.

    Il libro di Maggiore un buon libro per la QFT Ha un approccio molto teorico alla questione, ma non eccessivamente consigliabile una conoscenza della teoria dei gruppi Risulta, in definitiva, un buon libro per chi vuole intraprendere la strada della fisica teorica.

    It is a good introduction about the most important topics of the modern point of view about QFT It could be perfect as introduction of course with a bigger part dedicated to group theory
