An excellent textbook, particularly for the self learner one can learn the math from this text without the assistance of a formal education environment Concepts are explained and demonstrated clearly There are plenty of exercises with back of the book answers interspersed throughout the text to provide good practice along the way I am somewhat dumbfounded this text and its advanced companion volume isn t popular or widely known If you re someone who has an interest in physics and would like to pursue the topic beyond the popular level, but don t have the option of going back to school for a formal education and need to start at the beginning of mathematics as a bit of a refresher as well as to build toward advanced topics, I can think of no better text than this to self learn from Even those in a formal education program should appreciate how well written this text is An outstanding and underappreciated example of pedagogy by the authors.
